Last week I was shooting some images for People to People. Just a few days before the shoot, my assistant called me up and said that he wasn't going to make it because something came up. For a photographer to hear this, it kind of makes your heart jump, and then you start running through your head how the day will turn out. I knew that I could do it on my own because I have worked without an assistant several times before, but I knew that I really would like someone to help carry in gear and stand in for the test shots.
