Born on the mean streets of Spokane, Washington, and forced into a hardscrabble existence on a distant uncle’s turnip farm, Chad Ramsey swore at an early age that he’d never again toil in the unforgiving earth. “These are the hands of an artist,” he says, “not a laborer.”
It was probably inevitable, then, that Chad would ultimately become a professional photographer. “I’m just happy to be a part of the creative community,” he says, without the slightest hint of irony.
A committed outdoor enthusiast, Chad spends most of his free time rock climbing, mountain biking, and backpacking. Thankfully, Chad takes pictures while he’s out, so we don’t have to get up.
“This is my life,” he says about his meteoric rise to the top of his profession, “and you’re welcome to it.” Many have taken Chad up on his generous offer, and have reaped the benefits of his keen eye and innate aesthetic sensibility.
